Location
UBUD BALI

Each year in Bali a special ceremony takes place.
Every Banjar (community) constructs a symbolic representation
of all the negative forces affecting their lives and this creation
is then paraded along the streets to a central point
where they are observed and then destroyed by fire.
The following day is called Nyepi
no one is allowed to leave home,
all businesses close, all transport ceases
and no work is done.
It is a day of contemplation and peace,
maybe there should be a World Nyepi Day !!!

I use a bottom of the range digital camera, mostly without the flash, some of the shots have been "auto" levelled in photoshop, some are raw. Ive used a fairly low resolution to get them up on this website, but you should get some idea of what this phenomenon looks like.
